RunTogether Group leader earns BEM in New Year Honours

RunTogether group founder, Marion Hemsworth, has been awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) and recognised for her services to wellbeing and to the community in West Sussex.
Based in Haywards Heath, J and M Running offers sessions for people of all abilities, Couch to 5k, #RunAndTalk sessions supporting mental health, and have together raised thousands of pounds for local charities.
J and M Running has thrived over the last fourteen years thanks to the enthusiasm of everyone involved, says Marion - who is one of a number of leaders and a Coach in Running Fitness as well as a Run Leader Mentor.
"I am grateful to England Athletics for proving the vital infrastructure to enable us to offer fun, safe run sessions led by qualified leaders. without the England Athletics qualifications and insurance, plus the Run Together app, we would have struggled."
Marion is keen that others who work with her are recognised for their contributions too:
"Thank you to all the run leaders, coaches and parkrun volunteers who helped me in achieving this award. I am absolutely chuffed, as well as a bit embarrassed."
Marion is looking forward to even more runners and walkers joining in the future!
