We are pleased to announce our final winner of the 2021 Run Leader Award series, in partnership with Kukri. Our December winner is Andy Raju, RunTogether Group Leader of 'Run with Andy'.

As the winner of our December Run Leader of the Month Award, Andy will take away a prize courtesy of Kukri.

Make Running and Walking a Lifestyle

Make running and walking a lifestyle is Andy’s mantra. Andy encourages an active lifestyle and wants all members to feel empowered, moving their bodies without barriers to participation getting in the way.

Andy was nominated by running club group member Anya, who describes Andy as “a fantastic leader who is always on hand to help with queries, or to give any needed advice”. Andy’s local running club is a great way for anyone to get involved who is unsure how to start running.

Anya goes on to explain that

“Andy’s sessions are fun, unique, and very rewarding. The group is very friendly and easy going too, and my fitness has improved a lot thanks to Andy and his guidance. I can definitely see the difference training in a group-based environment makes compared to training alone”.

“Run with Andy is a welcoming running club that provides group trail walks during the Spring and Summer to cater for all abilities and those who may prefer walking.”

Andy believes RunTogether running clubs provide a great way of encouraging those who struggle training alone or lack motivation. He says

“RunTogether promotes friendships and encourages attendees to push themselves”. Andy’s group has a “show up and win” mentality, that has been exemplified over the years as some group members have gone on to take part in couch to 5k challenges, as well as 5km and 10km races.”

Andy is one of many Run Leaders across the country offering coaching and support at local running clubs. If you are wondering how to start running, search for one of our local running clubs near you. We have running groups for all abilities and our expert Run Leaders are here to help you get the best out of your running.

Accepting the Run Leader Award

On hearing the news of his award Andy has said “I am very grateful, for not only being selected as a winner, but to receive a nomination. It is always great to see considerable progression over the years from our group members especially during these uncertain times.”
