New Season, New Opportunities-Get Involved
We hope you've had an amazing summer! It's been fantastic to visit and see photographs of so many brilliant RunTogether Groups around the country helping thousands of people access the physical, social and emotional benefits of running with others - thank you for continuing to provide these opportunities.
As the nights creep ever darker, it's important for you and your runners to stay visible. You should have received your free RunTogether Leader high visibility vest when you joined the programme but did you know that we also stock these fantastic lightweight, breathable vests for your runners too?
To keep down the cost of delivery, they're sold in batches of 10 through our online store, priced at just £10 per vest. They're size adjustable, making them easy to slip on over varying layers of clothing through the year. Don't delay, order today.
Leader Development Workshops!
Do you want to develop your skills as a Run Leader and learn the latest drills and techniques to take back to your group?
England Athletics offer a series of Movement Skills and Physical Preparation Workshops which are suitable for all RunTogether Leaders. The workshops are 75% practical and will give you the opportunity to learn alongside other leaders in your area. Using these skills back at your group will enable you to help your runners develop their running form to improve their speed, help them to run for longer and prevent injuries.
It's Time to #RunAndTalk
In support of World Mental Health Day on 10th October, England Athletics is holding another #RunAndTalk week from 6th – 13th October. The aim of the campaign is to improve mental well being through running and to break down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking about it. During #RunAndTalk week, we're simply encouraging people to (1) run a mile or further and (2) chat to friends, family, colleagues or other runners. This can be done at a time and location of your choice or by joining an organised run hosted by a RunTogether Group or England Athletics club.
You are invited to get involved by setting up a #RunAndTalk session. This can be one of your regular scheduled sessions or an additional run, we just ask that listed sessions are open to both existing group members and new runners, and ideally that they include a social element after the run.

Group of the Month: RunTogether Lions Running Community
We're delighted to introduce our awesome Group of the Month, RunTogether Lions Running Community, headed up by Run Leader, Shelby Williams, who explains:"We've been together for 6 years, initially as Sweatshop but after the shops closure I found us a new home in the local village pub and we became the Lions. I love them because they support each other, both running and personally and have raised lots for charity by taking part in different organised events and on our club nights’. As well as living and breathing the RunTogether values, this fantastic group were selected as GOTM because they consistently list upcoming run sessions on their website page and use social media effectively to engage their runners. Want to nominate your group? Email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) describing why your group deserves to win the GOTM title!
Sight Loss & Guide Running Workshop
Becoming a guide for visually impaired (VI) runners is a fantastic way to help others enjoy the physical and mental health benefits that a regular running habit brings.
England Athletics offer a two-hour workshop to prepare you for the role. The next courses are listed and can be booked online here, however if these dates/locations don't work for you please register your interest in future workshops here. After attending the workshop, we ask guides to complete a DBS check, following which a Guide Runner Licence is issued. Licenced Guide Runners are invited to join the free ‘Find a Guide’ database where VI runners can search for guides in their area and make direct contact.
