I am Team GB
Our mission at England Athletics, the creators of RunTogether, is to grow opportunities for everyone to experience athletics and running, to enable them to reach their full potential. With this in mind, we'd like to let you know about a new initiative to become part of "I Am Team GB" by hosting an activity day over the August bank holiday weekend on Saturday August 24th as part of the Nation's Biggest Sports Day. There will be thousands of free and fun activities across the country, put on by amazing volunteers, known as I Am Team GB Games Makers, and this is a great opportunity for you to highlight what you and your runners do in your local community.
I Am Team GB is a national campaign which aims to harness the power of the Olympics to make Britain more active. The campaign aims to help people to be inspired by their sporting heroes, feel part of Team GB and then get out and take part in an activity themselves and we'd like our RunTogether groups to showcase our amazing sport by becoming involved in the campaign.
Sign up is FREE and once you’ve registered to be a Games Maker, the organiser will send you an official I Am Team GB Games Maker t-shirt and a digital pack. This pack contains everything you need to set up your activity – from a listing on their website to posters you can put up in your community to top tips for getting people inspired to join you.

From July 2019, DW Fitness First, RunTogether's principal sponsor will sponsor the RunTogether Group of the Month. And in addition, DW Fitness First will sponsor a new award for the Run Leader of the Month.
As part of their sponsorship, a pair of trainers will be available to our winning Run Leader, as well as the winning group,. (The group will need to decide which group member should receive the pair of trainers).
Our June Group of the Month award goes to RunTogether St Austell Honey Bees!
Run Leader, Wendy Poole, started running in her early fifties. Once she started running five years ago, she soon became a Run Leader for the local club and then went onto set up the parkrun at the Eden Project. It was at this point that Wendy wanted to create a ladies running group, ‘with the aim to improve health and fitness, be a social support and to be inclusive and not feel intimidating.’ After successful discussion with the Eden Project, they agreed for runs to be hosted there.
Their group meets once a week and offer a beginners programme. Run Leader Wendy says ‘I’m so pleased I took the plunge and am so proud of these amazing women and we hope to go from strength to strength in the running community."
Well done RunTogether Honey Bees, we wish you every success with your running journey.
