It's Marathon time!
Whether you're running the London Marathon, supporting family and friends on the day or watching from the comfort of your own home, it's a huge event in the running calendar. We wish everyone involved the best of luck.
To maximise on the event and the spike in interest it drives around running, we have two RunTogether billboards on display NOW until Sunday 23rd April in the following locations; Commerical Road, London, E14 7LW and 128 the Highway, London, E1W 2BX. View the location on the map
CONGRATULATIONS to RunTogether Sawtry Walk to Run whose photo was chosen to feature on the billboards. We were inundated with submissions to the competition, and it was so great to see the RunTogether community coming together in group shots that depict fun, friendly, supportive running. Sadly, we could only choose one winner!
To ensure that we make the most of this event and the awareness it gives to our great sport, please make sure your sessions are listed on the RunTogether website, with the potential for new runners, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your group and the RunTogether family.

Running is for everyone!
Running is for everyone; every age, gender, ethnicity and ability. RunTogether groups have an on-going responsibility to meet the reasonable needs of disabled people and support disabled runners on their journey.
Planning in small and easy adjustments to your sessions in the anticipation that someone already needs it, or will do soon, can benefit all group members, not just disabled runners.
Examples of reasonable adjustment might include:
- Providing large print information for written documents, e.g. safety procedures.
- Making ‘reasonable’ adjustments to the way things are done – such as changing practices, policies or procedures where disabled people would be at a ‘substantial disadvantage’, e.g. amend a ‘no dogs’ policy to allow an exception for assistance dogs.
- Allowing a guide runner supporting a visually impaired runner to take part for free.
Making changes this small changes to your group will benefit current members as well as new runners and supporters such as family and friends. Don’t worry, any changes that would significantly affect or change the nature of your group and the activity you deliver would be unlikely to be deemed as reasonable.

DW Fitness First are looking for school gate RunTogether groups which take place after the school run to be part of an exciting new School Run marketing campaign taking place later in the summer term, encouraging parents and children to RunTogether. Need Support Running Your Group? Find a Run Leader Mentor Near You
We recently recruited a number of passionate Run Leader Mentors who will be providing support to other Run Leaders across the country. This new role will help support other qualified run leaders by providing tips, hints and advice. Run Leader Mentors will be available to provide mentoring support to you, either by face to face; by visiting you at your RunTogether group, or from a distance; by providing an opportunity to chat to you over the phone. GROUP OF THE MONTH:
RunTogether Brighton & Hove Women's Running Club
We are so excited to present our April Group of the Month Brighton & Hove Women's Running Club
Starting over 15 years ago the club has more than 130 members. Pictured above is the 'Return to Running Group' (led by Maggie and Angela) which hosts a six-week course, aimed at those who have lost their previous running/fitness/distance. As well as the return to running, their yearly beginners course welcomes new runners and invites previous beginners to come along and share their experiences and provide support to the newbies. This group certainly go the extra mile, providing all new runners with an information pack which includes, top tips, warm-up routines, sessions plans, returning to running after pregnancy and even weekly homework!
The leaders are exceptional at checking everyone in, on the RunTogether platform, adopting the behaviour of #BookCheckInRun.
Welcoming all ages, shapes and abilities, this friendly, supportive group have even helped runners like 71-year old Sylvia, to complete her first half marathon. Keep up the great work BHWRC; it's great to see such a passionate group pounding the pavements.

"Here I am rapidly approaching 50 running two/three times a week, the fittest and healthiest I have ever been, being told that I have Breast Cancer. My treatment would involve a lumpectomy, six rounds of Chemotherapy and finally four weeks of daily radiotherapy, a treatment plan that was going to be brutal. I run regularly with the most wonderful RunTogether group, MOJO running and Fitness in Sevenoaks.
On hearing the news, they completely wrapped their arms around me, continuously providing me with encouragement and support.
After the lumpectomy, I sat on the injured bench for five weeks, feeling battered and bruised, yet I was continuously invited to post run coffees and walks giving me a sense of normality..."
