National Trust and England Athletics partnership produces 2-4-6k running route
19 January 2016
A brand new running route has been launched at National Trust property Tyntesfield, North Somerset.
Taken from the successful Run England 3-2-1 route idea, the National Trust and England Athletics worked in partnership to develop the first ever 2-4-6k running routes.
The route forms the Trust 10 course which is a free 10k that takes place at Tyntesfield on the fourth Sunday of every month. The last Trust 10 across the country in December saw its largest attendance with over 500 runners enjoying National Trust landscapes.
Mimi Rousell, National Trust Project Lead for the Trust 10 has been working closely with local clubs and England Athletics Bristol City Run! Activator Helen Newberry, to install and launch the 3-2-1 route ready for the next Trust 10 event on 24th January.
The 3-2-1 route is a 5km loop of mainly trails that loops around the picturesque grounds of the National Trust site which boasts Tyntesfield House, woods, gardens and open views of the surrounding countryside. Way markers highlight the route and marks 2, 4, and 6 kilometres making it ideal for those who want to take it easy or individuals wanting more of a challenge.
This is the launch of the first route that the National Trust has partnered with England Athletics to create a series of running trails across the country at National Trust properties. It is hoped that the routes will attract recreational runners, walkers and inspire people to take part in the monthly Trust 10 events and experience the conservation work of the Trust.
Tyntesfield’s Trust 10 is hoping to attract even more runners at its next event on 24th Jan which is already becoming a regular Sunday pastime for anyone who enjoys a run and a cup of coffee afterwards.
To take part, just turn up at 8:15-8:30am to register on the day and if timing is important to you, bring your own timing device to capture your PB! As always, The Cowbarn Café will be open for a post run breakfast or warming drink!
