Run England to present award at Friday’s celebration of running
23 April 2015
Run England is proud to be a partner of The 2015 Running Awards in association with everydayhero and will present the award for the best 10K event at the ceremony at indigo at The O2 in London on Friday evening.
We aim to support and encourage as many people as possible people to start running through registered running groups.
There are currently more than 2,500 groups across the country. All are led by qualified and insured group leaders trained in helping people to overcome the barriers that stop them running as well as delivering fun, safe and progressive sessions to anyone, regardless of age, ability, size or shape.
England Athletics Head of Participation Matt Birkett will present the award on behalf of Run England, and said: “We are proud to support The Running Awards which looks set to be a fantastic celebration of our growing sport. This year we have seen the number of weekly runners rise to more than two million, as well as record numbers of registered club athletes and Run England groups. This is a result of the tremendous work being done by volunteers and organisations across the sport in taking running and athletics to an ever broader spectrum of people.
“There are many reasons that motivate people to run from health and fitness goals to raising money for good causes to completing a personal challenge. This makes running a very appealing activity to lots of different people. With the longer days and warmer weather, now is the perfect time to start.”
Paul Corrick, Director of Reality Ltd and Co-Founder of The Running Awards commented: “We are proud that Run England is an official partner of The 2015 Running Awards in association with everydayhero . We feel very passionately about encouraging as many people as possible to start running and we are looking forward to celebrating all things running tomorrow.”
Run England beginners’ groups – with qualified group leaders on hand every step of the way – are a great way to take your first steps in running as they provide a friendly and supportive environment for anyone wishing to join in.
