Are you looking to challenge yourself that little bit more with your 20145 #runningresolution? Could you inspire others at work, where you study or elsewhere in your community with your passion?
Whether you'd like to set up a 'School Run' group after dropping the kids off, a lunch break group at your work place, or if you're a member of a group, such as a beginner's group at an athletics club, and you fancy doing that little bit more to support your group - qualifying as a group leader could be for you!
Remember, it's the passion and desire to motivate and support others that counts - you don't need speed to lead!
Wherever you would like to lead a group, the first step is becoming qualified. All groups registered with Run England are led by leaders with a valid and recognised UKA licence, normally a Leadership in Running Fitness qualification, including an up to date DBS (formerly CRB) check.
Once qualified, you'll have the skills and insurance needed to deliver fun and safe sessions to groups of runners with different abilities, including new runners, those who are returning to running after a break and those who already run but want to progress.
The next step is registration which is a fairly quick online process and once registered group leaders can access a variety of benefits and support from Run England:
- All registered groups are publicised on Run England's Group Finder map at www.runengland.org/groups.
- Access to a wide range of online resources including leaflets, posters, images, logos, advice on supporting disabled participants, online group register facility and session plans.
- Our regular eLeader newsletter for Run England group leaders with information, advice and support and to make you aware of development opportunities and special offers.
You can also access additional support via local staff where appropriate.
