Support Jo Pavey for BBC Sports Personality of the Year
12 December 2014
On Sunday a 41-year-old mother-of-two from Devon will go up against the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Gareth Bale in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
Her name is Jo Pavey. This summer she set a world over 40 record before winning an heroic bronze in the 5,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow - also where the awards are being held - behind two Kenyans in a world class field. Just ten days later Jo won her first major championship title in the 10,000m at the European Championships in Zurich.
You can also remind yourself of some of Jo's performances with the footage on the BBC website - it's an emotional watch!

What sets Jo apart from the other nominees is all that this was less than a year after giving birth to her second child at the age of 40. She says being a mum is her main job and she encouraged mums everywhere to get fit.
Following her bronze in Glasgow, Jo said: "The fact I've got two kids and my youngest is only ten months old feels almost comical to me.
"To be out there trying to race against the Kenyans and get a medal is like a dream – hopefully I can inspire some mums to get fit.
"My little boy was watching – it was so great to give him a hug after the race. The fact I'm 40 now makes this medal seem almost funny.
"I haven’t been on any training camps, I was still breast-feeding at the start of April. Being a mum is my main thing now.
"It seems funny being out there – now changing nappies and doing meals means I don’t have a minute to relax."
