Riverside Runners is a beginner's running group in Hammersmith and, due to the longer, warmer days has seen a big increase in membership in recent weeks.

But perhaps the influx of new runners could be down to the inspiring efforts of current members, but have recently taken the plunge to participating in 10K events.

On 6 May, four of the group's runners took part in the Tower of London 10K. It was the first time they had taken part in such an event, and all completed the distance, sparking interest from other runners, and the group is now looking at participating in a series of events in the summer, including the Windsor and Ealing half marathons.

Group Leader Rosie, who also runs for Ravenscourt Park runners, said: "For a group that has only been running since Christmas, this is a great achievement."

The group - pictured above in brand new t shirts - is now planning on joining up with nearby Ravenscourt Park runners on a Monday and Thursday evening to offer sessions for beginners and more advanced runners. This will remain free and everyone is welcome to attend.
