A two circuit solo run around the Island of Jersey using coastal roads and cliff paths to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands and VE day and in aid of the Red Cross was the latest long distance running challenge completed by Run England leader Paul Lewis.

Starting at 4am on the 8th of May and finishing 96 miles and 10,000 ft later in a total time of 22:41.32. The North coast included hundreds of irregular/ unevenly spaced foot high steps, but the most difficult part was the South coast by headtorch after dark.

The next challenge is climbing the equivalent of the height of Mt. Everest [sea level to summit] and back, 55,300 steps up and down, on June 8th in Stratford from 8am with Andre Ellis a fellow local Run England leader.

Paul currently leads 7 Run England groups which 'specialise' in Half and particularly Marathon training, and including his free 'advanced' RE group the "viewtube runners" who meet in the Olympic Park each Sunday morning for longer runs.

You can find out more about both his personal challenges and his Run England groups in Paul's blog "Outrun the Zombeez" and his Justgiving page.

You don't need speed to lead, or be able to run the distances that Paul does!  But perhaps Paul inspired you to start running or go a step further and lead a group.
