Members of the Foxtrotters Run England Group recently took part in a great new event designed to raise money for local charities. Well done to all the group members, keep up the good work!

On Sunday 18 September, ten of the Foxtrotters running group, which is based at Danson Park in Bexley, tested themselves in the inaugural Joyden's Wood run. It was the first of the Kellystore Funraisers events, which donate all of the proceeds from the event to a local charity – in this case The Parents Consortium, an organisation for parents with disabled children in the Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley areas of Greater London.

The group members along with around 170 other runners and joggers completed either a 5k or 10k run or a 2k, 5k or 10k walk. Michelle Fox, Foxtrotters' Group Leader, said: "I'm so proud of Foxtrotters they have achieved so much and just keep on going. As a Group Leader I feel I am privileged to work with such a lovely bunch of people. For me to see them progress is very rewarding! No Stopping the Foxtrotters now!"

Local Run England Activator, Lynne Atkinson, was also on hand to sign up new Run England members and tell people more about the benefits of joining - such as £15 off Sweatshop running shoes for all members!

Margaret Wheeler, a member of the Foxtrotters who took part in the event, said: "It was tougher than expected as we had never completed a run on this type of terrain. It was very hilly and muddy. I think I would specifically train for something like this in future. But we all finished and some personal records were set. We all had a great morning."

The next Kelly Funraisers event is in Guildford. Visit the website for more details or contact Louise Milne, Run England Area Coordinator for the South. Click here for Run England team contact details. In the meantime, well done again to the Foxtrotters... and keep running!
